It all depends on what kind of picks you buy and how you use them. If you are hard with them and put a lot of tension on the lock, you'll probably break them quickly, but if you are gentle and have finesse when you pick they will last years. If you get Majestic brand picks, or any pick coated in black, the black will scrape off, but stainless steel silver picks do not get scratched unless, again, you are rough with them.
Lock picking is an art, not a means of entry.

My southerords blew up. The welds came undone and they are ALL falling apart. So a year is how long they lasted.

What kind of picks are you looking at p1mpfox?

Someone just discovered why welding isn't a good idea on stainless.

They are great handles, but I'll take my HPC rivets any day.

HPC, any HPC.

If you have the money, go for the Deluxe or Superior pick set. Great picks, great case, and all kinds of room for additions. Both sets include handled and non handled picks.

Cheaper options include the PIP-13 and PIP-15 sets, also known as the Novice and Tyro pick sets.

If you want slimline picks, the PIP-2000 series is your set. Same excellent case, but expensive.

Budget minded people should start with the SouthOrd picks, and then move up later if they truely have the lock picking bug.
