I have the job of re-keying 10 locks. Thats not the problem. Its a SCHLAGE lock and the key has the code stamped on it. What does it mean.
SC4 6 pin key stamped: N8946
I'm re-keying anyway so this is just do to my curiosity.

It's probably a lock that is apart of a master keyed system and the number stamped is the individual identifier of the lock for the system.
