Which handle types are best.

Postby casper111 » 22 May 2013 11:54

Hello
I was looking at some Southord picks and noticed that some of them came with a number of handles. Most of them have rivited handles. They seem to be a fairly strong construction. I have also noticed that some had laminated and vinyl handle. Would they be as strong as the rivited ones?
Thanks.

Yes, definitely. They are both well made picks that will give you a good degree of feedback. My go-to hook is a SO MAX despite having a wide range of Peterson picks to work with.

If you go for the plain metal riveted or the slimlines, one way of making very neat handles is to cover them with a couple of layers of hockey tape and then heat-shrink tubing over the top of that. You end up with very tidy handles that don't limit feedback. That's the cheapest way I know of, and they also look good.
