Euro cylinder pins won't set

Postby bioggy » 1 Feb 2014 20:25

Well I have a euro cylinder no matter how much or how little tension I use the pins will not set at all!. It honestly baffles me.

I also have one where the last pin is not aligned right it is to the side and there is no way to get it without snapping the pick.

Any suggestions? If you need pics I can get some tomorrow :)

Picks would be great!

Is the lock dirty or something? Maybe the dirt dampens the clicks so you don't feel/hear them setting. What brand is the cylinder?
I, for example, have a TESA regular pin tumbler that has such tight tolerances it's very hard to feel the pins set. And when they do, they reset very easily!
Go ahead, keep plugging away, picking on me! You will end up on bypass or with rigor mortise.

The misaligned pin is probably a spool pin. You will probably have to allow the plug to spin back as you try to set the pins.

As fgarci03 says, pictures would help us to understand what you are dealing with.
