One nice thing about this lock is it's self-latching and likely self-closing also thanks to a door closer
I agree from the description of how it works that it is a classroom function mortise lockset.
However, not all classroom function locksets require a 360 degree turn of the key to lock or unlock.
The lockset looks like it could be Corbin-Russwin or Sargent. The cylinder is Best SFIC and is not original to the lock, it is both a different metal finish than the lock (brushed chrome) and lacks matching patina.
