alarm lock ? and pentest story

So i am freelance pentester currently working on an assignment for an hotel. During my physical recon of the site I found an switch box protected by an cheap lock of course I pulled out an pick and an tension tool ( gotta love them slime line) and after 5 min I was locking at an Cisco switch and an arduino that shouldn't have been there.
So what I did was to just tell the person administrating the net that I found it there he his arms started to move like an windmill (as Italians do when they are stressed) of course I recommend an abloy lock and then I put some see trough tape so that you couldn't open the box without breaking the tape
Anyway question is are there some locks that sound an alarm if someone tries to pick them.
And if not why not picks are normal made of metal and as the pick never stays in the same place while turning the lock there would be an slight differences between it and an key electrically

In a sort-of way, they do exist, or rather the technology for them are available. Vehicles with a transponder will turn set a code in the vehicle (I work only on Fords, though I doubt it would change through the industry) if the vehicle is attempted to be started without the proper key inserted. So realistically, it most likely could be done, but the cost of having an alarm lock would be rather high, with a higher level of maintenance as well. The only situations a lock like that would be useful would be minimal. I think the better solution to something like that (if you wanted an alarm for a rather low-security enclosure) would be to utilize one of those magnetic field alarms and mount it to the inside of the door. When the panel door swings open and the magnetic field is broken, the alarm will sound.

I think the "easiest" way to do this without totally breaking the bank is to do something similar to the magnetic strip mentioned above. What I would do (besides upgrading lock), is have a "alarm" that can be armed or disarmed with a separate key. I have seen these alarms be made with tubular locks. This way you can arm/disarm the alarm externally and then open the regular lock. This way they do not have to hear the alarm every time the box opens.

Going to grab some magnets an transmitter and an receiver and some other stuff and see if I can make an system that will sound if the magnets lose contact and instead of having an 2 key I will use the remote to kill the alarm before if it should be opened. Now I just need to find it here in Italy :p clients are going to be happy thank you

I don't know if you have Amazon or access to a hardware store that stocks stuff like this. But this is as simple and as cheap as you can get while saving a tonne of time.
