I believe they make several different models, could you post a photo of the lock and they keyway so we can better ID it?
upload photos to imgur or tinypic or photobucket and Paste links in here.
Thanks, Squelchtone

I forgot to say it has Move N Store in big writing on the front of it. I also tried to shim and I can't get it in without it tearing up. I'm still not very good at picking each pin, but I keep trying.

are you having trouble getting photos from your camera or computer uploaded to http://imgur.com/ ? or showing us your photos in this thread on this forum? we do not allow direct uploads to your forum posts, photos have to be hosted somewhere else, your facebook page, your twitter account, your photobucket page, we can link to those. I think I found the one you have, is it this? https://www2.movenstore.com/product.php?id=2265I haven't picked one of those before, so not sure if it has any special anti-pick security pins inside, and the shape doesnt remind me of a rebranded one made by any of the big padlock companies, so it's probably a Made in China generic padlock. what pick set are you picking with and which pick profile are you using? hook? half diamond? s rake? Thanks and keep trying, you'll get it! Squelchtone

Yes, that's the one. The pick set I have is HPC and I've made a few picks myself. I usually start with "c" rake to try & get lucky, after that I use my hook. I've been doing some more reading and it looks like I should give the diamond a try. I've been a registered member to ur site since Oct 2013, but always to chicken to ask for help. You guys are so much more advanced than I am that I don't know what your talking about half the time. The real reason I ask for help is this lock is on a grey box next to my meter box and I do not have the key. If I can't get it open I will end up cutting it, but I thought hears my chance to put all my practice to practical use....which seems to no avail. And by the way don't let my user name fool you. I'm really a large, old, hairy guy with bad breath. (o.o)

yup, I had a feeling this was why we couldn't see photos of it, because it is in use on something. We prefer not to help in this case, because we don't want to enable people getting in somewhere that is not theirs. What's in the cabinet and what are you trying to accomplish by getting into the cabinet? Is it your padlock to be picking? is it the landlords or a utility company? Be honest with us and we'll give you all the help we can muster. Thanks, Squelchtone

Yes, it's my box, its my property, the lock was left on it by the previous owner. I really don't know what's in the box & if anyone knows what's in a grey box next to the meter box please let me know. Like I said before I'll just cut it off, its not that big of a deal. I started getting interested in lock picking when I had to purchase a Schlage re-key kit and all the springs and pins fell out. It took me hours to get those springs back in. In those hours I started getting fascinated with it all. I started looking at lock pick sites (like yours) not realizing that people do this as a hobby. I definitely wouldn't be asking for help if I wanted to break into a lock that wasn't mine. All a lock does is keep an honest man honest. I'm also not very good at it. I can open most master locks, but I think anyone can. I've opened a Schlage padlock by raking it, but haven't been able to do it since. I have never yet been able to open a lock pin by pin. The only reason I started this thread about this lock is I know its a cheap lock and that's what frustrating me. But now after all this, explaining myself to people I don't even know, f**k it, I'm cutting it off!

Oh, I just got what you meant about not uploading pictures. I took six pictures of that lock on that box (I kinda thought that's why u wanted me to upload pictures) and I tried to figure out how to upload them with bucket and small pics and I still couldn't figure it out. I've never uploaded pictures to a web site except when they had a link right there to do it. I'm not a social, internet, web blabbing person. This is the most I've ever written to people I don't know on the internet. So just to clarify things, I spent several hours trying to upload those pictures. I know eventually I would have figured it out, but I DON'T have a PC, I do everything on my phone and your site is not exactly mobile friendly.

Look, you gotta see it from our side of things. I know the internet is this big Do It Yourself search guide where no matter what the project someone is working on, there's some self help site or guide or video to help them, but lockpicking is a lot more touchy of a subject than let's say "lawnmower repair" or "how to change out a broken power outlet on your kitchen counter" So no need to get worked up or offended that some stranger on the internet is asking a couple of questions to make sure everything's on the up and up before they teach you how to get into a padlock on some vague grey box next to a utility meter. We don't ask these questions to offend people or make them gasp and say how dare they imply I'm up to no good, we've just had enough people in the past come here who actually were up to something, that now we try to get more details before giving out instructions. hope that makes sense, Squelchtone

I get it. I think I'm going to start from the beginning like I should have done in the first place. This looks like it, Beginner's Lockpicking Exercise - by digital_blue. That locks been on that box since I bought my home & not knowing what's in it hasn't caused me any problems yet. Now I have a goal to achieve, let the journey begin. Thanks

Wow... A (seriously) well-intentioned suggestion: when trying to solicit specialized information from someone who has no obligation to provide it to you, coming at them with an attitude and borderline insulting them isn't usually the best way to get that info. Specific to your issue, if it is 100% YOUR padlock (and not a utility co. padlock on your property), cut it off, then work on it in the presumable comfort of wherever you normally pick at.

R.I.P. thread. Maybe you could practice on another lock for a while. That sometimes helps.
