Southord 8 pin Lockpick

Postby Dimension3 » 13 Jul 2015 22:15

Just got a 8 pin pick from south ord and I used it on a 8 pin tumbler lock when I stick the pick in it's not a smooth fit but it does and when I insert in use back n forth twist the feelers/fingers don't move am I doing it wrong or is it lock and I have released tension and still no movement. Also wondered do I have to put tension as I insert to get impression. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Can we get a photo of the lock to see what you're working on? (upload to imgur.com or tinypic.com and paste here), and is this the first lock ever that you are picking? I ask because it takes practice to use that tubular pick, it's not like you put it into the lock and bam, it's open.

Also, it helps to know how locks work and how pin tumbler lock have shearlines, etc. Are you adjusting the collar so it is just tight enough for the fingers to not move easily? maybe you have it turned too tight, as you move the pick left and right, you're supposed to also move the pick more and more into the lock slowly, but the collar has to be loos enough so the fingers of the pick can move as you press more into the lock.

looking forward to photo of your lock,
