Help identifying this padlock [photo]

Postby random_string » 22 Aug 2015 14:48

So I was rummaging around in an old box and I found this small padlock which I can't identify. The opening is round, and there are two more circular openings inside (kind of like ledges?). I've looked inside and poked around with a rake, but I can't see or feel any pins.

Does anyone know how this type of lock is called, and which tool would be used to open it?

Looks like some type of small warded lock.

That looks a lot like a cheap warded luggage padlock. Those usually pick open quite easily; I've opened them with a bobby pin before :D All there is that locks this padlock is a simple spring at the end of the "keyway". Once you spread that spring, pop goes the lock!

Thanks! That's exactly it. :D I had a look at the images in this thread:

And then I got it open in 5 seconds with a twisted paper clip:

Much easier than using a rake!
