Got my first set of picks and did my first lock tonight. 4 pin Master Lock, took me about 10 minutes. I'm sure this is child's play for most people on here but wanted to share. Thanks for having a great site, lots of reading gave me a good idea mentally of what to be doing before I put it into practice. Now I'm hooked

Welcome and congratulations. I've been at it few months now and put in a solid half hour plus a day, it's fun when they open. You will have a lot better understanding of what is going on inside the lock in a couple of weeks, keep practicing.

Thanks man. Definitely a good feeling when the lock pops open. I've picked it now about half a dozen times, definitely getting a better feel for what is happening. Now I need more practice locks!!

Nice job!
That feeling when you pick your first lock, it's addicting.
I can see you've already been spending some time reading the forum, to the point that you've already found the "other" lockpicking forum as well (I just activated your registration). Awesome, I guess you're on to your next lock! I've found the most expensive part in this hobby is purchasing practice locks.

Actually went to Habitat for Himanity Restore and grabbed half a dozen locks for $5. Will keep me busy for a while But seeing some of the beautiful high security locks on this forum (and the prices that go with them) my wallet might regret getting better at this hobby

Good to see what everyone's first lock picked is.
The experts were beginners at one time.

I keep hearing about thrift stores and such for locks. I need to find one in my area and check it out! The best deal I've had so far was 3 door knobs and 2 deadbolts (low security) locks on eBay for 10$ + shipping.
