learning to pick dimple on Abus EC75, which pick?

Postby pillar » 3 Feb 2016 11:59

I have a ABUS EC 75, (75/30) Dimple Lock, I would like to learn picking on Dimples.
Would this be a good lock for learning?

I inserted a small pick (kind of a hook, but very small hook) and counted 5 pins, the key however has more:
The key is double sided and has 5 holes on the left side, and 3 deep holes on the right side.

I did not feel any pins on the right side, why are these holes there?
Are they to distract anybody getting sight on the key?
Are there some pins I have not noticed? (Pins coming in place when the first pins are set - or something like that?)

I do not have special dimple picks, however a nice collection:
main picks, polished:

Other picks, not polished:

including some diamonds, without the foam now:

What would be the best pick for learning?
Or should I get dimple Picks first as I do not have the right tool(s)?

Thanks
:)

I've only used dimple picks with a cylindrical handle for rotation. Southord makes a decent set. http://hackerstickers.com/product/dimpl ... -southord/

Normally use a half-diamond pick. Put it on the side and rotate it to lift the pin. My favorite dimple pick is essentially the same thing, but made by Femurat. A great tool.
