Help with this Yale

Postby cassie » 28 Feb 2016 5:14

Recently bought a Yale V198 lock. It has a narrow key-way and looking at the key, it seems to be curved. I see the notches for the first 2 pins and then there seems to be a curve before the remaining 3 notches.

I've unsuccessfully tried picking this lock using a paper clip. Any ideas on how I can defeat this lock? Thanks in advance!

You may have an easier time if you get some real picks. Paper clips can be used, but it requires a very light touch.

Gordon's suggestions is good, to get real picks.

Then read the FAQ and "sticky" posts on the forum. You need to learn the basics, and reading the beginner's guides will help with that. That's a pretty basic pin tumbler lock, there is no magic trick to it. It's just a matter of understanding how the lock works and how picking works, then practice, practice, practice.
