Help - Name the Lockpick

Postby VarsityPickmeister » 8 May 2016 10:58

I know a lot of lockpicks, even fairly obscure ones, and have been picking for almost a year. However, a friend just picked up a second-hand cheap set online and found a rather strange pick in his set I've never seen before.

Could be a car pick, since I'm not too familiar with those. The set also didn't come with any rakes at all, which I found extremely odd.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

That's a dimple lock rake. It would open some dimple locks which you can visually identify beause their keyways are sideways 9 to 3 instead of vertical 12 to 6.

What country are you from? What brand was the pick set? I believe this rake is from a cheap import pick set as seen here http://www.lock-pick-tools.com/index.php?item=lock-pick-set-10-pieces-secure-pro-advanced&action=article&aid=14&lang=EN#

Thanks for helping out, he has the exact pick set you posted. I guess he'll have to get pretty good at SPPing considering his set is 90% hooks and we don't see too many dimple locks every day.
