What Medeco should I buy?

Postby Daltonj21 » 29 Jun 2016 20:26

I'm looking to get a medeco to start practicing on, my question is which should I get? I want one with rotating pins and all that jazz . (I'm not sure if they all have them) I'm pretty sure I read the key mark do not. There are so many types and keyways and I don't know which is the classic, biaxial or the m3. I've looked on ebay and after a while they all blend together. What would someone experienced with them recommend to start with?

Thanks

Medeco BiAxial is what I'd recommend. Not the cam locks or LFIC versions.

BiAxial has a steeper slope and sharper angle than the classic, so it is easier (for me) to rotate the pins.

Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.

Thanks. I read about the classics being harder to rotate. I will keep a look out for a biaxial. They have a bunch on ebay but most are sub assembled and I would like you have at least one key.

best deal is here: $15 per cylinder, + $7 per working key https://securitysnobs.com/Medeco-Biaxia ... -Used.html + shipping.

Medeco mortise cylinder are the best since they are already tapped and have grub screws holding each pin stack together and its very easy to take them apart so you can dump the entire lock out and pin up only a couple pin stacks and add more as your skill improves.

right now on ebay the cheapest is like $45.

ps. here's an old post with some nice Medeco pictures you'll like, the cutaway in the pic was made from one of the cylinders you're about to buy. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=54554#p396380

thanks and for the links. I was going to ask about snobs, to see how others experience with them went. The shipping for them is a little high so I think I might pick up some other locks while I'm there.
