Buying pins in the UK

Postby Jimbobjames » 1 Feb 2017 10:16

Hello everyone
New here and new to lock picking, I've been looking into making myself a challenge lock that I can change the pins to spool, serrated, mushroom and T pins but my problem is finding a lock in the UK that would be good for this and finding somewhere that sells security type pins searched online and can't seem to find anything been to my local locksmiths I live in Guernsey CI so we only have 1! They didn't seem very helpful they said they have lock pinning kits but were very hesitant to help me choose a lock they have pins for and selling me the pins so if anyone has any good sites I can look at, I can get a lock and pin kit from the US for about £28 but then I would have to pay £20 to get it here which is a bit pricey so if anyone can help that would be great.

Check out this thread. There is a member here who sells (still, I think?) a fantastic practice lock kit. I can't recommend it enough. Save yourself from buying a bag of 100 pins or an entire kit. This comes with all the practice pins of different types. Everything you would need. His name is MrWizard. Read the thread and if you feel it's something you are interested you can send him a PM and ask about pricing and shipping. Good luck.

What pin kit are you looking at for I £28?

You could take most any locks and use a dremel to grind the tops off pin chambers. Then use a 6-32 or similar tap to thread the top of chamber and throw in set screws. If you youtube bosnianbill, he has a video turning several style locks into practice locks. Very informative. As far as pins, MrWizard i believe sells, and learnlockpicking.com sells bags of 100 pins(usually more) for like 10bux. Cool thing there is there are some set screws and springs in the bags as well.

Further to my last, I bought a set the other week and used them to re-pin a Madbobs cutaway euro lock. I'll admit to making it easier by removing the spool pins.

Nothing outrageous and within the specified timeframe. Well worth the wait.
