First off, I own the door & house, and it is an un-used and abandoned door. Hasn't been touched for quite a few years. So that's out of the way..
So, I attempted to pick my old door(deadbolt & doorknob) and got it open pretty easily, the only problem I had was that the core would rotate and "open" but the deadbolt/doorknob wouldn't do anything. It would just stay locked and not open.
Since I am dearly new to locksport, I'm wondering if it's just how the door is designed to be, or there is a flaw in my skill.
Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome!
You may be turning the plug to the "lock the lock mechanism" direction. So if you are turning the plug clockwise, switch direction and pick the lock while applying rotational force counter clockwise, this will hopefully turn your plug in the "unlock the lock mechanism" direction.
Once you pick the lock and the plug gives way, how many degrees are you turning it? 90? 180? 360? Some deadbolts wont retract until you turn the plug 360 degrees.
Feel free to post some pics of the locks
Thanks, Squelchtone

Oh my, I'm a fool.
I didn't realize that I was trying to lock it, while it was already locked, hence the lock stopping. As soon as I turned it the other way, the core went a full 180 and the pins dropped in, but I had read something about that on another forum, so I just popped the pins back up and the lock opened straight up.
Thanks for tolerating an idiot!
