Latch won't move even after picking the lock

Postby Judgerman » 20 Jan 2019 17:37

As the title states, the latch of this lock will not move even after picking the lock and getting it to turn. The knob itself wont even turn after picking it. I had thought maybe I was doing it the wrong way, but I have only had success turning it one way after very many attempts at both directions.

I do not have a key for this lock any longer and there is a smoke detector with low battery going off. Needless to say it is driving me crazy.

The knob seems to be upside down because the pins are on the bottom rather than the top. I do not know what it stopping the latch from coming in, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe pressure on the latch from the dead latch swallowing, door pressure, etc.

Try pulling the door to relive the pressure while turning the cylinder.

And another reason we strongly recommend that you do not pick a lock in use.

Pull the door, push the door.

Can we get some pictures of the whole door, and also the knob and latch in question?

Plug spinner is your friend. Perhaps. How far does the plug turn?

Sounds like you are not supposed to have access since you don't have a key to a door with a smoke detector chirping behind it. What is the situation? Why don't you have a key? Sounds like a residence you should have access too.
