Plug stops just shy of 180 both directions

Postby Cont1937 » 26 Feb 2019 22:03

I managed to pick the lock several times and turn it both directions. But it stops about 2-3 degrees shy of 180. It sounds as if its hitting a stop of sorts. Is there an additional security measure I’m unaware of. Searching the forum this post https://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?t=50097 seems similar to mine except I don’t know where the key is. And before you ask the lock is not currently in use. Thanks in advance for the help though.

Looks like first pin is a spool, may need a stronger tension?

pull or push the door while turning the turning tool in the keyway, the latch or deadbolt may have some pressure or friction on it that needs to be relieved before the plug can turn more.

If it is a night latch, there might be a snib activated on the other side preventing the plug from turning all the way.

also, 1st time posters with super close ups of locks mounted to a door always get hazed and given a hard time, so could you provide a wider angle photo of the door this lock is on? Does the door push in or pull out towards you? The more details we have the better we can help you, and we'll try not to give you a hard time picking a lock in use (which means mounted on a door, not in every day regular use with a key)

I’ve tried a stronger tension with no success. And the lock pictured was picked and that’s the position it stopped turning.

It is a night latch.
