National Provincial Bank Money box 86460. How can I unlock ?

Postby Brian L » 29 Nov 2021 10:35

I have this old National Provincial Bank moneybox, number 86460 and it is full of QEII threepence coins plus other unknowns. I don't have a key so how do I go about unlocking it ? The coins are of little value but one of the Grandchildren is rather keen on the moneybox so it would be nice to get it open, emptied and passed on to him. I don't want to ruin the lock.
I have tried a couple of local "locksmith's" but they are not interested as it's not a door !
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Impressioning a key is the way to go. A locksmith should be able to do it.
If you're good with tools and have patience you can try it yourself.

Here are a few of mines viewtopic.php?f=10&t=61845

Good luck :)

Good morning and thanks for the reply and the links/pictures, fascinating stuff !!
I will have a go at making something to try to open it. That bent probe looks like it shouldn't be too difficult to fashion.
Cheers
Brian.
