Pin spacing question

Postby cracksman » 31 May 2005 20:21

I've been examing keys from small and large padlocks, as well as common deadbolts. I've found (digital calipers) that there are 3 different distances in pin spacing. Can anyone tell me if there are industry standards of the spacing between pins? It may seem like a silly question but I have an idea for a sort of mechanical pick that my prove novel, if nothing else- thanks for any input :)

Yes, and if you have a search for "Cut Depth Chart" either on here or on Google you'll find a list of specs for keys including pin spacing.

Hope this helps!

No prob. And if you can't find it anywhere, give me a PM with an email address and I'll forward it along.

Happy key-spacing-figuring!
