How many Aus members have professional sets (ie. SouthOrd, Falle, HPC, etc.) and how did you manage to get them? Were they ordered from the net? Were they paid for by credit card? Had any problems getting them in? Got a favourite relative that heads to the USA every now and then and brings back a couple of sets? Please, tell......

sounds like someone in oz could import a lot of petersons or something and make a business as the local mail order distributer until ned kellys grandkids got into it.

Yeah, already onto it.

What I have also been up to, is trying to get hold of a huge stack of
sweeper bristles. I have decided that it will probably be easier to go
straight for the sweeper brush itself.
This is proving to be pretty troublesome and
headachey because I don't know anything about what I am searching for.

What I do know:

Three B Brush Manufacturing Co.
http://www.threebbrush.com/gutter_brooms_oil_tempered.htm
Gutter brooms and oil tempered wire

They also stock cylinder brush replacement wafers.

Sweeper brands:
Code: Select all
Aaplex           MB Cruiser           Tymco               Elgin
Murphy          Vac-all                  Johnston           Schwarze
Wayne FMC    Mobil                    Sweeprite          Catlon

Here is another brush company, but I'm not sure that these
will be of any use:
http://www.rtsmetalwerks.com/broom-main.htm

I am also trying to find out (if it will work out cheaper) who supplies
the wire to the manufacturers.

I have sort of figured (without metal knowledge) that I should be looking
for 'Cold rolled, hard tempered, flat wire' or stainless steel, would this
be right?
A search for a metal manufacturing company gives me:
Onesteel.
http://www.onesteel.com/products.asp?action=quickfind&quickfind=product&id=251
I think that 'Baletite' may be what I want, but I am not sure.

I might go to the council depot and have a closer look at their sweepers
maybe, but from what I can gather, it is contracted out to owner/operators.

Anyway Aussies, if you can help, please do because you know all these
other guys are pointing and laughing at us poor guys picking with
banana peels and chicken bones.

If anyone knows of a bulk load of bristles, brush or wafers, let me know
where to buy them and I will distribute them and we can have our own
'WILL SEND TO AUS ONLY' post, hahaha.

PS I'll let yous know if I get a bunch of Petersons, in the trade forum.

Just wait 2 or more weeks. I brought my southords from a friend on this site. He is setting up and website that he is going to sell southords and things in australia. I am not mentioning his name because he might not be ready for lots of orders seems as if i told you his name he would probably get swamped :D

Well if your friend wants to sell to non locksmiths, he definately has a
customer here. And I would appreciate it if you gave him my interest
to reserve some sort of a spot in the line, as I am sure that it will be a
fairly long one.

Thanks for that info, Geek.
I'll keep up my search for sweeper bristles though and keep everyone
posted when I find a good supply.
