I just got done making some new padlock shims. i used the thin strip of metal inside a VHS tape.

Thanks for posting the videos! :D I haven't thought about using the metal from a VHS tape for shimming, got to try that. One minor point, the padlock shim video is pretty dark. Any video release is a nice way to intro into the site, however. Big welcome :!:

I will soon be posting a video guide on how to make the best pad lock shims that will last a long time. i would have done it tonight but its 5:39 am and i dont want to wake everyone up with the grinder. :D

Raimundo has been going on for ages about useing vhs bits for shims, in fact i think he came up with the idea, not meaning to piss on your fire though, well done keep up the work.

Did you need to file down the pointy end that enters, because I cannot seem to slide the shim in very easily? Hmmm, maybe i just need to practice.....

you need to file the whole part that goes in. when you put it in you have to twist it back and forth to get it in. some locks are to tight for these but every gym combo lock i have seen work great.
