i thought they would be a little bit of a challange. i just got one of the "pocket knife" sets. well, i guess now i have a key tho the world. so, the next time one of my relatives tells me they will leave a key under the mat do i tell them not to worry about it?

Oi mate, you obviosly havent heard of MEDECO, MulTLock, or Bramah locks

most locks are made to resist direct attacks, but as far as picking goes, they often suffer in security.

to be honest there is always a better way to open a door than picking locks, if your relatives leave the key under their mats you can consider yourself to have an uber-super-duper tool to open their lock

just kidding - nice work.

there are definitely other ways than picking. once i pulled a door off it's hinges for a neighbor who was locked out.

well that's unorthadox -
personaly I would have thougt picking better than tearing the door off.
I've always wanted to use the running kick method of opening a door, but need to wait till I see one that is having the doorframe changed.

how the heck did you pull the door off it's hinges?? unless it was a shedlock I don't see how. Or are you just like mr muscles? (not the cleaning product  )

just to stay on topic...its important not to get too cocky because you opened a few locks with your new skills. Also, its important that you dont go showing off your picking skills to all your relatives by showing them how you broke into their house. Like most people here will tell you, dont practice on locks that are actually protecting people and their property. Youll run into plenty of door locks or other locks you wont be able to open easily.

Very true.

You taking up the challenge Skold? Make sure he covers the airfare, a jackknife pickset, lodgings, food, beer, daytime entertainment, trips to the peelers, a good winter coat and a touque (it's prolly cold over there right now...could make for even better peeler-entertainment. ), some of that fantastic winter fishing, snow-boarding, more trips to the peelers, more beer, watching your breath freeze....and so on. :P
