Master Padlock number 28

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Master Padlock number 28

Postby CVScam » 15 Apr 2006 20:47

I have a Master Padlock has a number 28 on the bottom, I found the lock by the road side. It has blue plastic around the bottom and is pretty big but looks kinda of old. I can pick the lock pretty ez but I am trying to find a key blank for it to impression. I went to two local hardware stores they tried every master lock blank they had, I searched the internet couldnt find any info about a Master Padlock number 28. I am sure someone on here can tell what kind of blank fits it or where I can buy them. I will try to include a picture of the lock.

I have a key blank now, some kind of corbin blank fits it. The 3 hardware stores I have tried had M1 blanks up to M21 blanks. Anyone Locksmiths out there have a book that can tell me anything about a Master lock 28? Is my keyway messed up and some reg Master Blank should fit? I have searched the whole internet and have yet to see a master padlock model 28 anywhere. How is the cylinder removed from this lock with that steal cylinder guard in place? I would drill that big steal rivet?

someone probably replaced the cylinder.

if you can pick it open, there should be an allen screw in the bottom of the hole(for lack of the correct term) for the shakle. just unscrew that and the steel rivet should be free.

Yep the screw is there.

I see the screw now I am going to take it apart and remove the cylinder I have never removed the cylinder from a padlock. Should make it LOT easier to make the key then.
