Postby yungning » 23 Mar 2004 22:55

hi,

i live in Texas, USA.

all my local hardware stores (homedepot, lowes, walmart) only sell Master, Brinks or Magnum padlocks.

i have bought almost every padlocks for practice.
i can pick the 5 pins padlock with 5 spool pins within 1 minute.

i 'd like to try those Abus, American.....

anyone has idea where to buy them in local store?

i had to buy locks like that online.

had to get my mul-t-locks from eBay and an online retailor... takes alot of searching. use www.froogle.com if you are interested in online retailors... and don't rule out eBay.

as for local retailors, you could check your local locksmith. not sure he'd have any padlocks, but he'll definatly have tougher cylinders you could get and try.

I live in Michigan and the only place I have found that sells American padlocks is ACO hardware but, I don't know if you have those in Texas.

By the way, if you can get Brinks locks the shrouded shackle padlock is fairly challenging. It has serrated bottom and top pins, and guessing by the feel of the tension wrench when I pick it I would guess there is a spool pin or two as well. Mine has an American key way. I suggest cracking open the phone book, and finding your local locksmith. That's where I'd go to buy any kind of unusual, or high quality lock.
