I walked into my local locksmith's store today and found a couple bins on the bottom shelf labeled "$5 dollar locks" and "$10 dollar locks" The $10 had some kind of bike lock that I wasn't interested in, but the $5 dollar box had an ABUS laminated 41 (already have one, but the more the merrier) and the box also had an American Lock C70.
I picked the 41 when I got back to the car, and the C70 was 0wned earlier this evening, and to my surprise only took 5 seconds. And takes 5 seconds each time since using a bent slim snake.
American Lock C70:
I also purchased a brand new ABUS 55/50 for $8, it is yet to be open, I have some rotation but I'm hung up on a spool pin. How many spools do these usually have?
I was really hoping for more challange with the American lock..

I like the look of that lock - I want one.... any suggestions as to how I can get one in Canada, Windsor ONtario in particular. I am always looking to add to my collection, i particuarly like padlocks - maybe its teh click or the functionality of the lock.
Tommorrow I am going out to pickup a couple of brinks locks I found displayed at the local nickle and dime store.
- There is no spool -

If it is a 5pin, you should be prepared for 4 spools and 1 serrated pin in the rear chamber.
A good approach to these is a bogota
Due to financial limitations the light at the end of tunnel has been turned off until further notice.

note to self: finish making Bogotas. =)
I got the ABUS 50 / 55 open today, small S snake rake from my C1510 slimline set. very light tension, medium pressure on the pins, really fast raking.
I know, I know.. I'll single pin pick it tonight.
Then it's back to my American Series 50 to see if I can pick it. That's the only lock that I own and cannot open. yet.

I like the abus padlocks! Not too hard, nor too easy. in any case not with the xx/40-series. The /50 are a bit harder i think. Never tried the /50-size, but i will when i have the money. My personal favourite is the 85/40 lock, you sould try that one in case you don't already have one.

I'm getting addicted to pad locks too! I actually go out of my way some times to look for them. I feel like a junky needing a fix. And when I get one I immediately have to try picking it in my car. The anticipation, the sensation, the short rush after it pops open. Ahh but then it's over and time for another lock. I light a cigarette and enjoy the moment. Wait, this is starting to remind me of some thing else too.
On a serious note I'm finding no two identical locks are the same! I have a Master #5 I can pick consistently under 20 seconds, and I have another Master #5 that gives me trouble! It takes 2-5 minutes! The only exception seems to be really cheap locks that all open easily. And better locks that all give me trouble

raimundo, can you give me a 1 sentence (cause I don't want to be a pain) rundown of the picks/skills needed to pick a lever lock?
I'm always open to new stuff
