VIRO featuring INOX springs

Postby Krypos » 5 Sep 2006 22:14

ok, so i got this fatty viro padlock from my grandpa. i searched up on viro here, and all i found was some people saying how pricey viro is and something about some luggage lock.

lets be clear. this lock can kill someone in one blow to the chest. without a doubt. and the corners almost cut me while holding the thing.

it is italian made, hardened shackle, and it says INOX SPRINGS on it. 5 pins and the key seems to click into place in the lock. oh yeah, and one side is in english and the other is in italian (i assume.)

i cant pick it, any tips/hints/tricks that i might not know about this lock. it seems to be a bit rare. and what are INOX springs?

oh yeah, and the key clicks into place.

here are some pics:

Inox springs means that the spring are made of stainless steel, or at least of a metal that does not oxidate. (hence the name Inox, witch you'll find on knifes and tools for instance)

As for expensive, you'll find them in every DIY shop in Holland, and not for a big price.

I used to work for a locksmith who sold many Viro padlocks, I had to assemble quite a few.

They are indeed a very well made, durable padlock. I regret to inform you that you are up against 5 spool pins :). I've only picked one, (only ever tried to pick 2). The way I did it, was I raked it until it false set, then single pin picked the rest with a medium hook.

Good luck, and nice lock.

son of a monkeys uncle.

five spools ya say then eh? i barely made it feel as if 2 pins had set...but that was a real bugger. it really is pretty hard to push the pins.

thanks for the help.
