There not hard with the right tools and practice... by the way sombody said sidebar on an everest? its called a check pin.

As far as schlages go i spent 4 months on these alone.. becuase there common there for i willc ross them in a lock out call.

rule of thumb, if you think you overset... try the first pin.. its always a regular and you will find mostly regular drviers bind.. or atleast the first will bind before spools and such.

Tensioner in the top.. you need light tension and a very very thin hook.. i would't realy on commercial tools for them either.

Just get a wiper strip or two and expierement.

If your lazy i will make you a damnn pick that will work for a medeco and Falle and a my prisoner to make W/e tools i desire.. fair deal

I am terrible with the tension on top! On some locks I'm ok, but not on schlage!

So I got this baby and it rocks!

I tried to make my own several times but couldn't do it so I broke out and bought it. Glad I did. This is a real schlage key blank cut down to the groove. Fits in the key way all the way, stays in the firm and provides all the room you could possible need for a pick.

A life saver for me and these blasted schlages :)

lol i was waiting for someone to spend there money on that..

Seriously its takes practice, plus you could just replicate the lower warding on the key with a tension wrench, i forget who posted a guide.

You paid 20$ for a chopped key and some scrap metal bud.

Yea I did. I tried 3 times to make my own and failed miseribly each time! So yes, I ended up coughing up the $20, but it really is worth it, at least for me. This is made from a real key blank. And the best part is it works flawlessly. Not that this tension wrench will allow any one to pick a schlage, it's no majic wand, but it does provide you with all the room you need and fits very snug allowing you to apply any degree of tension with out the tension wrench slipping, falling, or flying across the room :)

I'm happy with it.

I too have a Schlage Georgian that I haven't been able to open yet. I know I will but for now it's really hard to tell if pins are overset. It seems like the pin holes are in a really straight line.

Hey Bud Wiser, way to hang in there bud. Just in case you are wondering if anyone notices your attempts to keep this a gracious forum...I do. Thanks for taking the high road.

Hey I won't bash ya, what ever tool works, seems fine. I would;t by it.. but it is indeed my 2 cents.

But if it works... then really it is not a waste of money i suppose then?.. Hmm quite the paradox

Either way good luck bro

No bashing taken. I have always found your posts both informative and amusing. You obviously know your stuff. And if there's a way to do something cheaper, I want to know about it.

Cheers mate :) , i am very far from the most knowledgable.. the mighty shrubster! and ofcourse zeke have much mor eknowldge.

But i did do this with a schalge key a while back.. i forget who posted it.. actualy i think i used Matt Blases Everst key idea.. so Credit to him.

Baically all you want is very bottom of the keyand a little rise everythign else goes.

Then use a grinder and grind the keys handel down, and i just took a wiper blade and hot glued it fast, was plyable.. and cheap :) .. I tihnk you might be ablet o drill a hole a rivet the insert on.

Either way, i concidered it a waste of money from the site, but was a very one sided and arrogant statement to say the least.

If it works, the money was well spent :)

There was also a thread where someone tool tension wrenchs and bet them to mimic the bottom of the keys warding.

I prefer the top of the key way for my tensioner, but i will admit it does get annoying beacuse they slip very easily.

If somebody would like to add links to The threads please do i am in a rush, i am on a lateeee lunch break.

Cya guys :P
