Keep trying, read whatever guides there are, try another lock you'll get it eventually. Either that or the lock is damaged.

Try putting tension on it counterclockwise, or at the top of the keyway. Sometimes putting tension clockwise on the bottom catches on the rim and keeps the plug from rotating.

I was having the same problem with my Master #1 and #140 but after trying many different things picking them is a breeze.

try reverse picking. the #3 is one of the first locks i found easier with a hook than a diamond. and its not a lock i have been able to rake.. all mine are picked from the back forward as well... Try a 140 its got spool (i think) pins but its a much tighter lock to work on.

Let u know what u get it

BrownDwarf wrote:Might try using a shallow hook, pulling it slowly over the pins one by one, with enough pressure to push them down. If you are doing it right you will feel the tip of the hook traveling over the tops of the pins. If you get the pressure on the hook and the wrench right, each pin will hang up at its shear line and the lock will open.

Two tips:

1) After you've pulled the hook over all four pins, back the pressure on the wrench off a tad to let just one or two pins pop back up. The first ones to pop are often the ones that have been pushed down too far.

2) If the lock won't open with tension in a clockwise direction, try putting tension on in a counterclockwise direction. Sometimes things are a lot easier in reverse.

this is what i do too...tip #1 is very useful
