My knowledge of this technology is nil and prefer to keep my opinions to myself since there's a couple of members here who love to rip people to pieces when they make one little mistake.

I will say that I think this is the direction that lock technology is headed.

Well i have no idea about the technolagy either,

On another note, if there are people on site doing as you say you need to contact myself via pm or one of the other mods or admin and report it so we can look into it,

I just see other threads with links that never get posted on where i think an initial comment would spark the discussion,

I really wasnt picking or having a go by the way just merely asking what you thought,

Sorry I didn't take it that way. I was in no way referring to you.

we have an ekey toca
http://ess-as.no/Bilder/ekey/bilde_ibruk1.jpg
at my work and it retails for about 800 CAN (probably has gone down though). I've seen it falsely accept customers who were just messing around, and it almost never accepts me (because I have an ever changing pattern of cuts and scrapes on my prints I imagine).

I can't speak for the master version but I from what I've seen I think the technology is still a few years off, and that's for home use. For padlocks I really don't know if I'd ever want to go biometric when it probably costs more than an abloy.

The company didn't develop the fingerprint sensors itself, which come from Long Island, N.Y.-based bioMETRX Inc.

Well thats a relief.

But on a serious not I would never trust this thing, or any biometric lock for any serious security. As shrub said there are so may ways to trick the things.

A lot of the more expensive ones even check for a pulse and moisture on the finger to make sure it hast been cutoff and isnt a model finger, im sure this will become industry standard at some point, i know if i had the choice ide spend the extra.

And although i don't think think the discussion of opening these locks is permitted in the open forums thinking about it logically and you will start coming up with ideas. in fact there is a myth busters show all about them.

Thanks for sharing the link though, all the best

John

No its not for public forums but yes the myth busters one was very good but missed some trade tricks,

I presume the next logical step is gogin to be eye scanners, i think they would be a lot more secure if the hardware was up to it but to be honest personally they scare the hell out of me,
Its the thought of a laser or whatever it is running over my eye, it may only take a power surge to burn it and make me blind, i know its probably not even feasable but thats my fears any way regardless of what i know to be true or not lol

Well the funny thing about those pulse and moisture sensing locks is that they can be fooled with even a xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

I don't remember what episode it was, but these locks were tested in Mythbusters :)

Please read the whole thread, bypass techniques removed from this post,
