Practice Locks?

Hey guys,

Ive ben probin these forums for a few months now. im getting ready to attempt to start making some pics, and perhaps buy some around X-mas. but i have a question. Forgive me if this has ben asked a ton of times. but what are some good locks to begin with? as "Practice locks"?

Most masterlocks would be a great place to start. I'd also suggest taking a trip down to the hardware store and picking up a kwickset deadbolt that you can repin and do DB's beginner picking exercises.

ya, ive read that review a few times. and cant wait to do it, i was wanting to get some locks like that, but i dont know what kind are like that. Ive tryed searching the forums but ended up with nothing.

You can pick up a basic Kwikset deadbolt from Home Depot for ~$19, which will work great for db's guide.
As for padlocks, definitely pick up a Master Lock no. 3 (Home Depot or Walmart, ~$5, the number is written on the bottom of the lock). It's an easy 4-pin lock to start with, nothing fancy.

Jeta, there were some members here from alabama who may have been trying to start a locksports group a while back, why don'cha look in the locksports groups thread and see if it got organized, if you join a group and have local meetings, you can learn more from others.
