Duo 18 Wafer High Security Cam - Creating Cutaway/breakdown

Postby mitch.capper » 29 Nov 2007 14:32

The Duo Cam lock is made by Illinois Lock Company and is somewhat of a less well known lock. It actually quite hard to manipulate due to several anti-security features and just very little room to work in. It certainly is pickable but is by no means easy. I decided to make a cutaway of the Duo as I have a few. Making the actual cutaway is a fairly easy thing, so to make it a bit more interesting I picked one of the dirtiest duos I had so I could show some restoration techniques. The entire project went very smoothly and I have it up on my site with lots of pictures and technical details at: Duo 14 Wafer Cam (http://mitchcapper.com/cutaways/mine/5- ... mbler-cam/)

I also completely broke the lock down, which is a little less than fun on the duo due to the way the wafer springs work, but certainly makes for some good show:)

Excellent article and nice pics too! I like the phot of the key that's been half cleaned to show just how dirty it was.

makes me want to get a DUO cam lock next time I see one on ebay.

Thanks Mitch, nice job.
