Brinks 5059 lock help

Postby stp1stp » 20 Nov 2007 21:38

First of all, I'm a new lock picker. Well I wouldn't even call me a lock picker yet. I stumbled across some videos on youtube about lock picking and this sounded like a great hobby. My next day off from work I was going to make some lock picks and start practicing on some master locks that I have in the kitchen drawer that I no longer have the keys to.
Last Saturday I went to an auction and they had a Brinks model 5059 safe. Thinking about a video I saw on youtube that was a safe with the combination dial too and the person had no trouble opening it without the combination because all it needed was the key, I went ahead and bid on it . Got it for 10 bucks. The auctioneer guaranteed 10,000 dollars or less (funny man). Got it home and noticed that it doesn't have the handle like in the video.
So, I'm guessing that it is going to need the combination done first and the key is like the handle. Or I can be completely wrong.
Does anybody know if this lock is pickable and if so, will I need the combination too?
If I need the combination is there anyway to get that or am I just screwed and should just cut the bastard open?
Thanks

Safes are considered advanced material, and methods of opening them are only to be discussed in the advanced forums. Click the link below for information on how to gain access to that area.

Brinks doesnt make this safe anymore Its made by honeywell. you can call honeywell with the S/L(located on the bottom right of the box) and numbers on the lock and request a key for it.

Also possibly some one might have the combo on file.Contact the auction co. you purchased it from to locate where it came from and contact them to see if they have the combo and or key avalible.

And yes you need both the key and the combo to open it.
Thats all i can help you with here Because of the advanced nature of this topic.

Hope this helps

Hey thanks,
Sorry about worng place to be posting this.
I guess I'm going to see a locksmith. I called one and he said he has a 50 - 50 chance to get the combo. Who knows what he is going to charge me but I would like to reuse this safe.
Thanks for the help,

it's shady comments like that which make the waiting period such an inconvenient reality. It's to protect the info from getting into the slimy hands of thieves looking to get info for their next job.

now go away before I get really angry.
