Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

I just ripped a new one on my Best Lock core while bumping

I successfully bumped a brand new Best core a few times. After a few bumps, that particular core became easier to bump and I was getting it open with one hit after a while. I suspect something has changed in the core, because I was not able to get another identically pinned core open the same.

Well... after a while, I ripped it a new one :\

Grind of the tip of your bump key, so you wont damage locks anymore. This is interesting though, because it shows more forensic evidence of bumping.

Congratulations WOT! You reproduced exactly what I was warning people about. Good pictures though.

When bumping locks that use a tip stop or that have a weak shoulder rivet a washer to the head of the key. First put a 90 degree bend in a 3/4 " washer then clamp it to the bump key with a small pair of vicegrips. Adjust the position of the washer while testing key movement in the lock, once you have the washer in position drill straight through the washer and key with an 1/8" bit and rivet in place.
Don't forget to file the tip stop back before testing key in lock.
You can also use another key with the blade cut off in place of the washer
