Abloy Knockoffs

Postby raimundo » 13 May 2008 9:59

I have been using a newsparkling 1097 type abloy knockoff pick, there are You tube vids of this tool being used on a garrison and some other locks.
I have only a Tigon lock to work with.

at first, while the lock gives a lot of feedback, there is not yet any coherence to the feel that tells me anything I should be looking for.

Heres a mystery

The lock used to pick from a lot of back and forth and in and out, and while the cross pieces that are used to tension the knurled nut, would be about 15 to 30 degrees off the center line of the rectangular base of the lock body, then this morning, I notice that while I am not getting it open, the cross pieces seem to mover to about 45 degrees, from that rectangle,

Previously, this would be an open lock, but this morning, it turnes that far and is still not opening, the only solution I can think of is that I have the side bar halfway into a set of false gates.

there are a number of You tube videos on using this pick, I will post some links to them in this thread,

I hope we can get some discussion going on this pick and the various locks that it opens.

now the first disc is just spinning, no longer picks up the core, could the cup be spread open? The key still works just fine, but the pick is no longer working.

Has anyone ever had this happen, the pick now will pickup the first disc and with a little resistance, very little, it spins it completely around and does not stop at any quarter turn point where you would normally pick the other discs.

the first 2 links don't work and the last one is just an CAD animation of an Abloy classic.

I believe that rotating disc detainer locks are still advanced material.

raimundo, that sounds like a broken lock.
