combination locks

i was wondering if anyone knew of a source that would sell combination locks, like the ones that go on safes, just as the locking mechanism itself, no door or heavy safe, just the lock itself. i would like to have a go at safecracking, just to see if i could do it or not, no illegal motives, etc. so basically, the question would be:

does anyone know where i can find a combination lock for a safe, but without the safe. get the idea? something to practice on.

i did find some on ebay, however, would those work for practicing? would i know when i cracked it? would it make the same "noises" as it would when it was in the safe?? or rather, would it react the same as if it was installed in the safe. i'll get the link here in a few.

It will not react/feel the same as if it were mounted. The door has a dampening effect on what is felt and heard.
As far as where to find one, check out the online auction sites, Ive ran across them before.

ok, i guess your right about the feel, afterall there's a big difference in picking a lock on a door handle, a deadbolt, and a padlock, although the same methodology is used. but is it convinently possible to mount a combination lock from (or for) a safe onto something much more portable, while still retaining the locking mechanism and such?

i got booted offline earlier, so i wasn't able to post the pic or link of the lock i found, but it says it's an obsolete grade 2 combination lock for a safe, it might be lvl 2 or something, but i suppose you get the idea.

i can't notice any difference manipulating KCL'S whether they are on a safe or on a training stand, and i do it for a living !
