What's GLIP. Could you show me a picture of such a lock?

Yeah, one popular source for shims are those pillowy rectangular plastic anti-theft stickers. Cut them open and you get two very thin pieces of good strong steel.

Hey guys, I was being really sarcastic.
Eraser shields are cheap enough to use for shim but are a little thick for most shimming.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.
I tend to use the more expensive version which is to go get a spark plug gapping gaugeset. Many of these go as thin as 002". This works for shimming my Schlages. Plus you can use the other sizes for combo lock manipulation.
Again, can't recall the price, but check your local hardware stores.
You can really buy them pretty cheap. I can't remember how much it costs out of a catalogue, but even lockpickshop sells them. Heres the link:

i'm a big fan of the pieces of the thin strips of metal within the plastic rectangular anti-theft stickers they put on blister packs or on a piece of card in a book.
