Wafer Lock?

Postby jphustman » 12 Aug 2008 12:14

Hi, this is my first real post. I've had much success with pins and tumblers this past week, but I came across this lock yesterday in my junk drawer, and am having no luck at all. I believe it is a wafer style lock. There is no brand name, only "40mm" and "Made in China." Here are a couple of pictures, any info or help would be much appreciated. This is my next challenge.

that's a warded lock, you open them with these 5 picks:

Cool, kinda like these in the middle. My dad had these when he used to run a used car lot, looks similar to what you linked. My first tension wrench and pick I made are there too.

Those lockpicks are not for warded locks, they are a jiggler set, congrats on getting it open.

Thanks, Afisch. "Jigglers" is not a term I have heard before. What these were bought for were to open car doors. It came with a pamphlet that is probably gone by now, but it said which type of car it supposedly would open up. The first time opening this lock with these was most likely by pure luck. The second time took a couple minutes, but is still came open. I've been playing with it now for a couple of days and can open it quite easily. This is probably second to the most fun hobby I have gotten into. I look forward to being part of these boards!
