Master Lock #3

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Master Lock #3

Postby Boombaye » 16 Sep 2008 22:04

I picked it in a few attempts. I thought i read somewhere that this lock is hard to pick. Is there anything special to this lock. I think because its old is why i picked it so fast. I'm new to this hobby.

There are easier locks, but the Master No. 3 is not a high security lock. Do a google advanced search and use this domain name and you'll find more info than you ever wanted to know about this lock.

Oh, and congradulations on picking one of your first locks.

The master no. 3 is one of those locks that most experienced lockpickers will come across and is a very good padlock for a beginner if you are going to start your practice with a padlock and not a deadbolt. To get the most out of the Master no. 3 ,the plug turn both ways (clockwise and counterclockwise). You can try raking and/or single pin picking(SPP) in either direction as well bottom and top tension in the keyway. Focus more on SPP to gain the feel of the pins breaking at the shear line. Good job on picking the lock.
