Help identifying a random Medeco lock?

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Hi, thanks for the detailed reply.

I think you can ask anything you wish about medeco as long as it doesnt entail talking about drilling them out or ripping out cylinders and such.

The working principle of the lock is nothing secret, and I believe there was a lengthy thread about allowing public posting of how medeco works and how to pick them. Destructive entry is still forbidden because that would help crooks get in without much skill.

ask away.

That keyway looks almost like a Yale GA would fit. ????
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.

Thank you. My idea of what is and isn't OK was a little skewed.

I mainly just wanted to know the specifics from the lock I have. Now it will be easy to sift through search results regarding the manipulation of Medeco locks.

Anything will fit with enough lube and the right hammer.

I don't think Medeco would be able to patent a key/keyway that a Yale key would fit and they wouldn't have let Yale use a key that infringed on their patent either. Something about them being VERY particular about the whole "key control" concept. :D
