Is the SFIC ejector tool really worth it?

I've seen a handful of locksmith supply outfits carrying the "I-Core pin ejector tool", or something quite similar. By all accounts, it looks like a $15 metal rod with a handle wrapped around it. Is there really something special about this tool that warrants the price? Or is it just a way to charge extra for a little piece of metal with a fancy name?

Nothing special, except it is designed to replace the ejector pin. Has a small allen head screw on the side to hold the pin in. You can make one from a #4 finishing nail. Just file the point off and square it to the nail. Depends on how much pinning you are doing. It is just used to push the pin stack through the core for repinning.

just buying the ejector tool is probably a waste of time. if you are doing alot of ic rekeying however, getting the whole kit is definitely worth while. That would include the vise, pin stand, capping tools and ejector. This is invaluable if you rekey cores regularly.

And if you want to save the pins and don't want all the parts flying out everywhere.
