MasterLock No. 140 picked meh.

Postby gr00ve » 11 Oct 2008 1:30

i was expecting this to be more difficult considering its supposed to have 2 security pins in it but i just took the advice that i've been reading on here. light tension for the security pins which i am fairly sure are the back two. anyhow i got it open within a couple minutes of buying it so that's kind of a disappointment. whats a good lock, non-masterlock, that will give me a run for my money? ;D so far ive only been picking padlocks, should i look into deadbolts and stuff?

definitely go get a deadbolt that has spools that you can re-pin for maximum difficulty. that should keep you busy for a while. or go to a used hardware store and get some. either way, branch out so you have more experience.

just when i thought i had it... i guess i didnt. this lock is still giving me a lot of trouble. i can false set it but have so much trouble popping the spool pin back into place without screwing it up. what kind of tension should i be using when trying to lift up the spool? i can feel the counter-tension but it just seems to never pop into place and then theres no tension anymore and i cant open it.

on another note, i finally picked my R70 brinks puck lock. its pretty cool, security pins in 1/4 i think, maybe 2/4.

anyhow, any info on security pin picking would be great thanks
