Another source of pins are junk locks, as long as they have full size keyways, some padlocks such as american, have smaller pins, but most full size door locks, whether they are KIK or db, have very similiar pins that will interchange easily to other cylinders.
Of course, for locksmiths, the pins differ in standard lengths for different locks, but the diameter is so close that for just recombinating a pick practice cylinder, this does not matter at all.
So when you are scrapping out a lock, put the pins, springs, retainer clips clyinder caps, into a small pill bottle, you may some day have just what you need for a repair job.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!
