hi people

i am training myself to work in the locksmith profession, and now that i have purchased a new home i am really confused which locks to put on it. Budget wise i dnt want to go over the board but here is what i come up with:

yale double auto locking night latch (BS insurance approved)
or
ERA High Security Nightlatch (BS insurance approved)

for my deadlock

CHUBB 3g114E
CHUBB 3U114E
yale High Security M562 (cuz it was cheap)

any reccomendations, i was going to try to practice on the above locks befor ei put them on :D

I would choose Yale over ERA for the night latch and Chubb over yale for the deadbolt.

Security however, is a multi-layered affair. I wouldn't be as worried about someone picking your locks as putting a size 12 through the door. If the frame and door aren't resilient then the lock serves as minimal protection.

Look at security lights towards the rear of the property and other deterrents on windows especially at ground level. Timed lights inside are also good to make it appear occupied when you're not in.

Ultimately thieves are lazy and probably don't have the skill set to pick a lock but if someone is looking around to nick some stuff and your house offers a challenge they'll probably move on.
