Question about Master Lock Designations

Postby Mboudreau » 21 Feb 2009 11:53

I'm a newbie. Big time. I just ordered a pick set and a kiwkset deadbolt, and I've been messing around with a few padlocks I have, but in reading around the forums several people suggest newbies trying "Master lock No. 1" or "Master number 3 lock" but I tried googling these terms and virtually nothing comes up. I've seen someone say the numbers are on the bottom of the lock?

I'm hoping someone can go more into detail about these master lock designations. THANK! :D

go with a master #3, its a good size and a great padlock to start with.

if everyone who tried something new liked it but didnt bother telling anyone else there would never be anything new to try...

The number just refers to the model of the padlock.
Its normally stamped on the bottom of the lock.

#1, 3 and 5 all use the same cylinder.. Just in a different size padlock for different applications.

masterlock.com will show you the differences.
