ICORE Knob with 2 1/4" backset??

Does anyone know of an entry knob that takes Icores and has a 2 1/4" backset for the latch? I may be able to use a 2 3/8", but 2 1/4" would be better. I had a couple of Best knob sets, but the latches are all 2 3/4" backset.

It doesn't have to be "Best" hardware, just as long as it takes cores.

I dont know of any that would have a 2 1/4" backset.
Its just not an industry standard.

You probably need a 2 3/8" backset and the holes in your door are just off slightly. Its only 1/8" difference.

If you have the Best 83K knob which is the heavy duty, then a 2 3/8 backset latch is not made for that lock.

It is available for the 62K series knob. [the two versus the three in the part number tells the backset]

The easiest way to tell which you have is how the inside rose is attached.

The 62K would use two screws going thru the inside sub rose plate more like a residential lockset.

The 83K knob would have an inside threaded rose that screws onto the chassis with a spanner wrench.

You can use a Schlage or Arrow latch with Best locks. Best does make a 2-3/8" latch for the 8K knobs, 2-3/4 is just the norm. You may be able to use the same type latch (with the "T" retractor) from other brands, but you may run into trouble with the size of the retractor - usually too small to grip. 2-3/4" BS latches generally have a 1-1/8" face plate, 2-3/8" BS latches have a 1" face plate, although I have seen 2-3/4" BS latches with 1" face plates!

Sounds like somebody planed the wrong edge of the door. I would re-bore the door and use a 2 3/8" latch. The knob rose will cover up the slight difference.
