Klass Padlock

Hi everyone! 1st time poster with a question:

Has everyone ever heard of a Klass brand high security lock? From far away it looks like an American Padlock but close up it says "Klass High Security" on it.

And this lock is attached to an $8,000 microdrop machine in my lab.

I also notice that the keyhole is round. Not your typical keyholes.

Oh and it says "Top Security" not "high security". My bad

I've not heard of that brand.

It clearly is not your lock so why the interest?

We do not pick locks that are in use, do not own, or do not have permission to pick here.

I would hope the OP is just interested in information on this lock, not how to pick it.

Heck, I'm interested to know what type of lock it is..

Olson, don't get me wrong. I don't want to try to open or steal the equipment. I abide by the credo of locksport, "You may only pick locks that you own, or those to which you’ve been given expressed permission to pick by the rightful owner." (from wikipedia).

I'm just really curious because I never heard of such a lock. At first I thought it was an American 1105 (I have 3 of em coming to me via mail ) which made me very proud of my research lab for relying on such a nice lock. Then I saw the engraved words "Klass" on it which puzzled me.

I don't know about you guys but ever since I entered the realm of locksport I notice and admire the brands of locks in my surrounding more. Like, for instance, the medeco lock on my college's bathroom door.

I too notice locks as I walk about and think 'oh thats a....' . It is a pretty cool feeling.

Well, I should think what you have there is a disk detainer lock, possibly an abloy copy. I think these are still restricted to the advanced categories but you can probably turn up some data on them from youtube or teh google.

Without a proper pic of the keyway it would be hard to tell. You could do a search here for disk (or disc) detainer or something and see what turns up.

Oh! It does look like a disk detainer keyhole as compared to images from Google!

I hear about the benefits of such locks such as Abloy Protec but I never saw a disk detainer type lock before until now .

That looks like the typical chinese abloy knockoff, probably first disc tensioned, probably easy to pick with a properly prepared piece of plastic pen barrel tensor and a ground down nail as a pick, cant tell you more because these cheap knockofs are probably considered high security. I dont consider them high security unless they are tensioned somewhere deeper in the lock. They can be very easy with the right simple tools. how is that high security

I hope I'm not going against the rules, but I can't consider a 6 euro lock like mine as advanced material! If so, please delete the following part of my post.
By the way, this technique does NOT work with Abloy, Abus... and other TRUE locks, so I hope I'm safe writing this
