Axa Bicycle lock

Postby TheSkyer » 27 Apr 2009 6:33

Fellow Lock pickers,

I don't like to admit it but I am having allot of trouble opening with (what seems to be) an easy lock. It's an AXA lock on a bicycle to which I lost the key (you will always see that if you really need your skill it won't work XD).

I can just take my hacksaw and saw it open but I prefer a more elegant way (I will have to replace the lock anyway since I lost the key, I just don't want to be beat by it). I tried using an AXA blank to open it but I am afraid the lock was made before the series that had the problems with the blanks since it won't open with that little trick.

I've tried a double ball, diamond, rake and single pin picking but to no avail.

Anyone got any ideas? It's a rather simple one sided 5 pin lock If I got it right. The serial number is D708819, here's a photo.

Like I said, sawing the lock in half is my least favorite option since it's a hassle and not all that elegant so ANY help is welcome ;)

Barry wels has an article in his blackbag blog on the axa lock. google barry wels, and look through the archives on his site or use the search for axa. As I remember there was a very easy way to unlock this that he has posted about.

I already had a look at berry's findings (being a member of toool and all) but the trick he is describes I tried already to no avail. This is because this is an older model which is can not be opened with a blank.

Since you already have a blank, have Barry teach you how to impression it :D
