Ahhhh, a protec.... yeah, they are pretty much unpickable. The way I understand them (from cutting no less than 13 of them away) is that the discs all have to be turned at the same time to the point where the disc locking bar comes down and locks them in the decoded position. You can't bring the bar over, then decoded the discs because of this.

Also, another feature is the key guide that goes through all of those discs, it restricts access to the discs even more than they are already. One more little security feature is the locking jaws at the opening, I'm not sure your keyway has this option fitted because I can't see any drill holes on the key.... I may be wrong, but I can only tell by seeing the cylinder it self.

All Abloy Protecs have the Disc Controller and therefore dimple holes in the keys. The positions differ whether it's a padlock/camlock or door lock.

Have a look at http://blackbag.nl/ to see lots of comments about a potential decoding vulnerability.

And that PL362 is a great lock :) I still need the appropriate chest to put it on, though ;)

Cheers,
mh

Yeah the 362 is TWICE the size of the 330. It is pickable, but it is an advanced topic so you can't talk about it in this part of the forum. You will need to make a special pick, and tension tool to say the least.

I'd suggest getting an abloy classic padlock if you want an easier abloy lock to play with. I've got an extra 330 classic if you (or anyone) wants to trade for a week.

There are a lot of details about the various Abloy systems in Han Fey's articles, you can find them at the bottom of the main page of http://toool.nl/

Not easy at all. The grub screw has to be drilled out (which isn't easy) since it is screwed in and sheered off at the factory. It's an option to have the grub screw fitted to be removable but IIRC is standard on the Disclock and Protec.
