Go on, you know you want to

Its actually really easy to bypass that "trap", just use your pick and prod around in the general area of the sidebar, with a little practice you can do it in a couple seconds.

Good to know. I have a DPS double profile cylinder that I picked before I read about the "trap."

I think it's meant to catch fake keys, where the sidebar has been poorly copied, after all there would be no way to get a tool in to reset it ...

it is bro... but i would wager the original idea would be for key control...
joe gets keys with sidebar A and i have sidebar B... we can cut customer keys the exact same but wont be able to open each others locks

the sidebar only engages when it is pushed out by a key with the incorrect sidebar

Eps is 6-pin.
Picture is Dps with an artwork change on the key.
Sidebar is for anti-bump and key control.

I found the pics of my DPS cutaway. I got a pic of it picked somewhere, but can't find it :/ Still, they are silly easy to pic even with those elongated spools ;)

Nothing at all mate :/ Sold my entire cutaway collection months ago to pay for a new engine for my car.

I've done a few active sidebar locks:

EVVA 3KS
ASSA 6000 Twin
ASSA Twin Combi
MTL MT5+
Medeco Biaxial
Schlage Everest

I won't be getting stock in til well after Christmas either, and when I do, it's not guarenteed to be the same stuff each time.

I think the sidebar trap is meant to keep someone from just grinding off the entire sidebar section of the key, or putting cuts in all possible positions along the side.

I bet this lock would be easily impressioned, since theres only one depth for each position. This might be a good way of defeating these.
